Goodbye Animal Fries

I have driven through Kingman, Arizona three times in the last few years. Before that, I hadn't been there since I was a child. I have family that lives there but I haven't had any contact or relationship with them since I was young. The recent times I've driven through the city I've thought about them, and how different the city looks from when I was there as a child.

This time was no different until I noticed an In-N-Out. I said to the kids, "that's the last In-N-Out we're going to see!" Bubba and I both said "Goodbye Animal Fries, I love you and will miss you!" It made me think of all the things from California and the mountain that I will miss. Here's a list (in no particular order):

  • My parents! We spend so much time with them it will be weird not to see them all the time.
  • Animal Fries. The greatest invention to ever happen to french fries. Whoever decided it was a good idea to add cheese, secret sauce and grilled onions to fries deserves an award.
  • The smell of pine trees while waiting for the bus with the girls. That is probably the best smell in the world.
  • The girls spending the entire day in the "snake territory" playing in the snow. And, the girls sledding in the backyard.
  • The amazing view from my back deck. That was the favorite thing about the old house, the view of the ghetto city below was amazing.
  • San Diego. Probably the best city EVER. I wish we would have lived there longer when we had the chance.
  • Carlsbad beach, or is it Oceanside, either way my favorite beach is in that area.
  • Sea World. We have gone there more times than I could count and we've had a blast every single time.
  • Disneyland. The "Big D" as we call it really is the happiest place on Earth.
  • Miguel's Jr. in my hometown. I've been eating at that place since we moved there the summer before 7th grade. I don't know how I'll live without my bean, rice and cheese wet burritos!
Now for a few things I won't miss:
  • The smog
  • Traffic
  • Tourists on the mountain.
  • The families that pull over to a dirty patch of iced over snow and try to play in it, or even sled in it!
  • The mountain fog
  • Insane taxes
  • Insane gas prices
  • Idiots
  • Power outages in the winter
  • Excruciating heat without air conditioning in the summer
  •  Los Angeles
